HAPPINESS THROUGH THE YEAR, by J. MARGARET CRUTE ASHCRAFT First Line: Give me a good book Last Line: And life seems just only begun. Subject(s): Books; Nature; Seasons; Reading | |||
Give me a good book In a quiet nook, In July by a bubbling stream; When Winter is here, I'll seek for my cheer With a book by the fire and dream. But oh, in the Fall, When the foliage all Is red, orange, green, brown, and yellow, I want nothing more Than just to adore Old Nature, the jolly fellow. Then in the Spring, I just want to sing, Rejoice with the birds in the sun; For everything's new, Earth is lovely to view, And life seems just only begun. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...TWO SONNETS: 1 by DAVID LEHMAN THE ILLUSTRATION?ÇÖA FOOTNOTE by DENISE LEVERTOV FALLING ASLEEP OVER THE AENEID by ROBERT LOWELL POETRY MACHINES by CATE MARVIN LENDING LIBRARY by PHYLLIS MCGINLEY MOTHER NIGHT by JAMES WELDON JOHNSON |
