SUNRISE, by BERNICE BAIRD First Line: Have you ever seen the sunrise Last Line: Around each flower sublime. Subject(s): Dawn; Sunrise | |||
Have you ever seen the sunrise On a mighty ocean blue As it pushes back the morning mist To watch dawn's blushing hue . . .? Have you ever seen the sunrise As it climbs the golden steps? Each one a rosy billow Like foamy, lacy nets . . . Well then, you've missed the sunrise A-comin' o'er the mountains; And you have missed it shinin' On the silvery gushing fountains . . . And you have missed the sunrise As it kissed each silvery pine; While its rays spread like a capelet Around each flower sublime. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...THIS MORNING, GOD by LAURE-ANNE BOSSELAAR BURNING DAWN by HAYDEN CARRUTH DAWN by GEORGIA DOUGLAS JOHNSON IN THE GARDEN AT THE DAWN HOUR by EDGAR LEE MASTERS EARLY RISER by NAOMI SHIHAB NYE |
