DORMANT HOUR, by BYRON CHEW First Line: For a little while I am content to let time rule me Last Line: Defies my strength. | |||
For a little while I am content to let time rule me. The crying of summer has ceased and the days in slow procession, go like tired monks up the steps to the monastery. Rest is good, and the quiet hours refresh me; but even now the barren fields cry out and mock my useless meditations while the waiting harrow defies my strength. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...AN ANATOMY OF THE WORLD: THE FIRST ANNIVERSARY by JOHN DONNE A TERNARIE OF LITTLES, UPON A PIPKIN OF JELLIE by ROBERT HERRICK TO A CHILD EMBRACING HIS MOTHER by THOMAS HOOD REQUIEM FOR ONE SLAIN IN BATTLE by GEORGE LUNT TO HAFIZ by THOMAS BAILEY ALDRICH OLD WYLIE'S STONE by ALEXANDER ANDERSON A DEDICATION TO ATHENE by AULUS LICINIUS ARCHIAS THE UNKNOWN HAND by CLIFFORD BAX |
