IN AND OUT OF SEASON, by MABEL HAUGHTON COLLYER First Line: Oh, sing me in december / a song of hazy june Last Line: Beneath a balmy sky! Subject(s): Seasons | |||
Oh, sing me in December A song of hazy June, And bring to winter rounds of glee A hint of summer moon; And in the balmy Junetime, Oh, sing to me of snow -- Of ice-bound stream and shining skate -- Of winds that wail and blow. But love me in December As loved the knights of old; For chilling are the icy blasts, And all the world seems cold! And jilt me in the Junetime, If jilt you must -- for I Can warm my little brooding heart Beneath a balmy sky! | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...NO AUTUMN IN MY COUNTRY by MEENA ALEXANDER AFTER TU FU (THEY SAY YOU'RE STAYING IN A MOUNTAIN TEMPLE) by MARVIN BELL HE HAD A GOOD YEAR by MARVIN BELL SO IT'S TODAY by LAURE-ANNE BOSSELAAR CONTRA MORTEM: THE FALL by HAYDEN CARRUTH |
