PROPOSED PACT, by
First Line: Last night, dear lord, he dreamed that he was tall
Last Line: But give him back the dream that he was tall!
Subject(s): Dreams; Nightmares

Last night, dear Lord, he dreamed that he was tall,
And oh, dear Lord, you should have seen his face
When telling me; you wouldn't guess at all
That he had shriveled legs or wore a brace,
For he sat up so straight, dear Lord, his eyes
Were like blue crystals in a velvet mask,
As he told how he stretched his legs to rise
To his new height; and so, Dear Lord, I ask
A favor; You may smile at my request,
I've thought the whole thing through; can You arrange
With him who deals out dreams at Your behest --
For my lad's broken dreams this fair exchange:
Let dark dreams fall to me, I'll take them all,
But give him back the dream that he was tall!
