PAHA SAPA TWILIGHT, by MARTIN E. HENDERSON First Line: The paha sapa twilight falls Last Line: To sleep in paha sapa's arms. Subject(s): Death; Ghosts; Supernatural; Dead, The | |||
The Paha Sapa twilight falls, And soon the hills must face the night. The ghost-shades of their emerald walls Are stealing from the sun-set light. The rainbow's blush now floods the sky, And Paha Sapa crags grow dim. In every valley soft mists lie, While woodlands voice their vesper hymn. The flowers nod their droopy heads, And birds are cuddled in their nest; The constant moon will watch their beds As Paha Sapa sinks to rest. When life puts on the cloak of night, To shroud my soul from world-alarms, I, too, would steal, midst failing light, To sleep in Paha Sapa's arms. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...A FRIEND KILLED IN THE WAR by ANTHONY HECHT FOR JAMES MERRILL: AN ADIEU by ANTHONY HECHT TARANTULA: OR THE DANCE OF DEATH by ANTHONY HECHT CHAMPS D?ÇÖHONNEUR by ERNEST HEMINGWAY NOTE TO REALITY by TONY HOAGLAND GOD'S CROSS by MARTIN E.
