POVERTY, by
First Line: It is my fate to be
Last Line: Of jewels and tapestry.
Subject(s): Depressions, Economic; Money; Poverty; Recessions

It is my fate to be
Sated by unwanted luxury,
Too poor to buy the simple things
My soul desires in vain.

How strange is life!
Magnificence on every hand,
Beauty is missed. Riches are mine,
Alas, and yet so poor!

Oh, give me love
Which money cannot buy,
And quiet peace, beyond the price
Of jewels and tapestry.
