ATONEMENT, by JOSEPH LANGLAND Poet's Biography First Line: There is a newer beauty that is born Last Line: Itself around the sorrow of the years. | |||
There is a newer beauty that is born When bitterness has laid her strong duress Upon the soul, when every hope is shorn Of light sustaining wings of eagerness. There is a deeper wisdom that will grow When death has stilled a dear beloved heart, And left a bitter brimming cup of woe To fill the loneliness of one apart. There is a wondrous peace that will enfold When one has known the depth of pain and tears; There is a rich contentment that will mold Itself around the sorrow of the years. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...SONNET: 10.
