ARMAND! I lose my vital heat, I see no longer as before, I soon my ancestors shall meet Upon Cocytus' dismal shore. There shall I follow in the train Of that illustrious king of France Whose love did learned men sustain Through an age steeped in ignorance. Soon as I join him where he stays, He will insist that I explain What you are doing nowadays To heap disgrace on hated Spain. With ease I shall at once obey By the fine record of your life, And so the grief shall charm away, Recalled by Pavia's fatal strife.
