IN THE OLD STONE AGE: CONFLICT 'TWIXT MAN AND BEAST, by
First Line: Often, before the foe was downed
Last Line: As bengal tiger ne'er has matched!
Subject(s): Animals; Cats; Hunting; Tigers; Hunters

Often, before the foe was downed,
Three or four hunters also fell
As roaring with prodigious sound,
It broke each cranium like a shell.
By twenty spears impaled, at length
The dreadful cat had been despatched—
A beast of such amazing strength
As Bengal tiger ne'er has matched!
