QUIET HOUR, by LILLIAN IONE OLSEN First Line: Give me a quiet mind, that I may hear Last Line: Give me a quiet hour -- the magic key! | |||
Give me a quiet mind, that I may hear The muted beat of wings when swallows fly With rhythmic grace toward the misted sky To dip through clouds that sweep the hemisphere; Give me a tranquil vision, bringing near The challenge flung by storms before they die, That I may grasp the hopes that underlie The proud success of every passing year. Give me a heart at peace; I would be true To every vibrant dream that stirs my soul To new awareness born, that I may see The promise of tomorrow shining through The dark today, where clouds of doubt uproll; Give me a quiet hour -- the magic key! | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...THE LISBON PACKET by GEORGE GORDON BYRON STABAT MATER DOLOROSA by JACOPONE DA TODI BINGEN ON THE RHINE by CAROLINE ELIZABETH SARAH SHERIDAN NORTON A NIGHT-PIECE ON DEATH by THOMAS PARNELL IN MEMORY OF GENERAL GRANT by HENRY ABBEY A SONG FOR THE SINGLE TABLE ON NEW YEAR'S DAY by ELIZABETH FRANCES AMHERST SONNETS OF MANHOOD: 14.
