MY TURTLEDOVE IS FLOWN, by JEAN PASSERAT Poet's Biography First Line: Ah! My turtledove is flown Last Line: After her I would be gone. | |||
AH! my Turtledove is flown! Can it be her voice I hear? After her I would be gone. For your mate you sadly moan, I regret a loss as dear-- Ah! my Turtledove is flown! If your love was faithful shown, Mine no less was firm and clear; After her I would be gone! Still your loss you dwell upon, I must grieve each passing year-- Ah! my Turtledove is flown. Since to see her hope is none, Nought can ever bright appear; After her I would be gone. Help remains in death alone, Death I call, nor longer fear-- Ah! my Turtledove is flown, After her I would be gone. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...ON THE DEATH OF THULENE THE KYNGE'S JESTER by JEAN PASSERAT A SUMMER EVENING'S MEDITATION by ANNA LETITIA BARBAULD OUT OF THE OLD HOUSE, NANCY by WILLIAM MCKENDREE CARLETON BE STILL, MY SOUL by ARCHILOCHUS SEASIDE THOUGHTS by BERNARD BARTON PSALM 114 by OLD TESTAMENT BIBLE |
