TOUCH, by REBA RAY First Line: I like to go with hands ungloved that I Last Line: To clasp a hand I love in love's belief. Subject(s): Compassion; Gloves; Touch (sense); Mittens; Muffs | |||
I like to go with hands ungloved that I May touch the things of life as I go by; The softness of a child's bright shining hair, The petal of a rose that's growing there, The soft folds of a dress I like to wear. I like to go ungloved that I may feel The touch of everything that's true and real, A statue with right symmetry and grace, A tapestry, a jewel, a bit of lace, Some shining silver in its proper place. I like to go ungloved that I may be Alert to give quick help and sympathy, To draw into my arms a friend in grief, To bandage little wounds to give relief, To clasp a hand I love in love's belief. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...THE MITTEN SONG by MARIE LOUISE ALLEN ON AN OLD MUFF by FREDERICK LOCKER-LAMPSON IN FREIBURG STATION by RUPERT BROOKE THE ROMANCE OF A GLOVE by HENRY SAVILE CLARKE DI'S MITTEN by WILLIAM CLYDE FITCH ELINDA'S GLOVE by RICHARD LOVELACE AN EMPTY GLOVE by JAMES WHITCOMB RILEY AT THE CHURCH DOOR by GEORGE SANTAYANA SONNET: WRITTEN ON THE DAY THAT MR.
