WHO WALKS IN FEAR, by BYRON HERBERT REECE First Line: Who walks in fear along this bitter way Last Line: To walk with him and hold him by the hand. | |||
Who walks in fear along this bitter way That leads I know not where in this strange land Had better have someone to hold his hand And comfort him with words, for in a day His dreams can leave like cattle gone astray That can't be found again; and in a night All stars he knew can vanish from his sight And leave him lost unless one's hand can stay The fear that rises in him like a cry, A lover's who can rise up with the sun And walk with surety in this strange land. Beneath the gloomy arches of the sky One should not go this bitter way with none To walk with him and hold him by the hand. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...WALT WHITMAN by HARRISON SMITH MORRIS SONG OF THE ANGELS AT THE NATIVITY by NAHUM TATE ADLESTROP by PHILIP EDWARD THOMAS LACHRYMAE MUSARUM (THE DEATH OF TENNYSON) by WILLIAM WATSON TO THE RIVER CHERWELL by WILLIAM LISLE BOWLES THE DISTURBED WASP; TO WILLIAM BEEBE by ANNE MILLAY BREMER ZOPHIEL; OR THE BRIDE OF SEVEN: CANTO 3.
