First Line: I would not alter even a leaf
Last Line: Sun on snow.

I would not alter even a leaf
In this green lane,
Nor build the broken wall again.

The tower, like those in Lyonesse,
The bells, should be
Dreaming in water everlastingly.

Nor from the sky should ever fade
That fiery bar;
I would not lose a single star.

And you forever I would keep
But well I know
There is no keeping --
Blossom on bough,
Sun on snow.
