DIGNITY by DAVID IGNATOW

Poet Analysis

First Line: ROCKS JUT OUT OF THE SEA
Last Line: THEY LACKED BEFORE.
Subject(s): SEA; STONES; OCEAN; GRANITE; ROCKS;

Rocks jut out of the sea
and ships maneuver
to avoid them. One
sails steadfastly through,
fighting off an undertow,
and the rocks have dignity
they lacked before.
