I SING OF LOVE by GEORGIA DOUGLAS JOHNSON

Poet Analysis

First Line: I SING OF LOVE WHO HAVE NO LOVE
Last Line: TO LULL MY HEART TO SLEEP.
Subject(s): LOVE;

I sing of love who have no love
Just weary wintry days,
I sing of halcyon happiness
Along my arid ways.

I sing of love, and make the songs
From out my ailing heart,
I sing them to myself to hold
My closing world apart.

I sing of love who have no love
For something I must keep
Of beauty, and of loveliness,
To lull my heart to sleep.
