MATE (1) by GEORGIA DOUGLAS JOHNSON

Poet Analysis

First Line: OUR SEPARATE WINDING WAYS WE TROD
Last Line: WHOSE SOULS WERE WELDED WITH THE STARS.
Subject(s): WORSHIP;

Our separate winding ways we trod,
Along the highways, unto God,
Unbonded by the clasp of hand,
Without a vow—we understand,
Estranged for aye, the fusing kiss,
Omnipotent, we bide in this—
@3They need no trammeling of bars
Whose souls were welded with the stars.@1
