BLAKE by MARIANNE MOORE

Poet Analysis

First Line: I WONDER IF YOU FEEL AS YOU LOOK AT US
Last Line: REFLECTIONS OF THE SUN—SHINING PALE-LY.
Subject(s): BLAKE, WILLIAM (1757-1827);

I wonder if you feel as you look at us,
As if you were seeing yourself in a mirror at the end
Of a long corridor—walking frail-ly.
I am sure that we feel as we look at you,
As if we were ambiguous and all but improbable
Reflections of the sun—shining pale-ly.
