NOVEMBER STARS by SARA TEASDALE

Poet Analysis

First Line: SPLENDOR OF MANY STARS AND THE UNKNOWN
Last Line: YOU WILL SHINE -- I SHALL BE GONE.
Subject(s): MORTALITY;

Splendor of many stars and the unknown
Invisible lights with which all space is strewn,
With what unwearied patience you submit
To the One Will that must be infinite --
Your steadfast immortality
Half angers and half comforts me;
Serenely ordered, on and on
You will shine -- I shall be gone.
