UPON JULIA'S CLOTHES by ROBERT HERRICK

Poem Explanation Poet Analysis

First Line: WHENAS IN SILKS MY JULIA GOES
Last Line: O HOW THAT GLITTERING TAKETH ME!
Subject(s): ADMIRATION; CLOTHING & DRESS; INNOCENCE; LOVE; SEX; SILK;

WHENAS in silks my Julia goes,
Then, then, methinks, how sweetly flowes
That liquefaction of her clothes.

Next, when I cast mine eyes and see
That brave vibration each way free,
O how that glittering taketh me!
