VERSES FOR CHILDREN: MAPLE TREE by ZEDA K. AILES

First Line: OUTSIDE THERE STANDS A MAPLE TREE
Last Line: TO DON THEIR LOVELY YELLOW DRESSES.
Subject(s): MAPLE TREES;

Outside there stands a maple tree
That peers into the window at me.

With a voice so soft, so gentle, too,
It talks to me all summer through.

But when the autumn Painter comes,
Each leaf then loudly sings and hums.

They're quite impatient, my guess is,
To don their lovely yellow dresses.
