AN EPITAPH ON A DUTCH CAPTAIN by PHILIP AYRES

First Line: HERE LIES A SOLDIER NOT OBLIG'D TO FAME
Last Line: COULD I BUT COMPREHEND IT IN MY VERSE.
Subject(s): EPITAPHS; SOLDIERS;

HERE lies a soldier not oblig'd to Fame,
Being forc'd his own achievements to rehearse;
He died not rich, yet I would tell his name,
Could I but comprehend it in my verse.
