Miss Hoar Frost is a dainty maid, Adorned for nature's masquerade. Her swirling gown of white, Festooned with jewels to catch the light, She fashions in the deep of night. The gems of fiery dye, That on her snowy bosom lie, She borrows from the starry sky. Her cloak of filmy lace, By icy crystal held in place, She drapes with artistry and grace. In all her bright array, And fearful of the coming day She swings into a mad ballet. Her feet so airy free, Leave footprints on each bush and tree That wrap the world in fantasy. The Sun appears with gleeful spite And ends the revel of the night. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...BENEDICTION by GEORGIA DOUGLAS JOHNSON HAPPY WIND by WILLIAM HENRY DAVIES A MINUET ON REACHING THE AGE OF FIFTY by GEORGE SANTAYANA CHICAGO [OCTOBER 8-10, 1871] by JOHN GREENLEAF WHITTIER A HYMN TO JESUS by BERNARD OF CLAIRVAUX KINGFISHER by EDMUND CHARLES BLUNDEN IMPROMPTU, IN REPLY TO A FRIEND by GEORGE GORDON BYRON SONG: A LADY, RESCUED FROM DEATH BY A KNIGHT, WHO LEAVES HER by THOMAS CAREW |
