ZINNIAS by ANNA EMILIA BAGSTAD

First Line: STIFF LADIES IN RUFF AND FARDINGALE
Last Line: SOOTH, HIS GRACE THE EARL OF LIECESTER.
Subject(s): COURTS & COURTIERS; ROYAL COURT LIFE; ROYALTY; KINGS; QUEENS;

Stiff ladies in ruff and fardingale,
Coquettes a bit tarnished under their finery.

Brave in the August sunshine,
Queen Bess and her retinue
Are riding down to Kenilworth,
To Kenilworth today.

And the tall, bedizened wonder,
In slashed saffron doublet yonder?
'Sooth, his grace the Earl of Liecester.
