MOTHER AND CHILD (WAR VICTIMS) by EVELYN D. BANGAY

First Line: WE MADE ROOM FOR YOU, REMEMBERING
Last Line: OF GOLDEN LOVE, AND INNOCENCE, AND TEARS.
Subject(s): CHILDREN; JESUS CHRIST; MARY. MOTHER OF JESUS; MOTHERS; WOMEN IN THE BIBLE; WORLD WAR II; CHILDHOOD; VIRGIN MARY; SECOND WORLD WAR;

We made room for you, remembering
The over-filled, inhospitable Inn,
With half the world now persecuted, homeless,
The ordered ways destroyed, and wars to win.

No gifts come, for kings are without their kingdom,
Necessity controls the shepherds' shears,
But you have brought your own wealth, all-providing,
Of golden love, and innocence, and tears.
