ON BEING ASKED IF ONE WAS A NUMBER, REPLY TO MR. HOUGHTON by ANNA LETITIA BARBAULD

Poet Analysis

First Line: IS ONE A NUMBER? 'TIS A QUESTION NEW
Last Line: YOU NEVER STOP TO THINK OF NUMBER ONE.

Is one a number? 'tis a question new,
And strange the doubt from any soul but you,
Who with such zeal the race of friendship run
You never stop to think of number one.
