THE SKY-GYPSY by WALTER BARDECK

First Line: I LONG / TO SWEEP THE SKY
Last Line: ON SOME STRANGE SHORE.
Subject(s): DREAMS; NIGHT; SEASHORE; NIGHTMARES; BEDTIME; BEACH; COAST; SHORE;

I long
To sweep the sky
On the shoulders of the
Night-wind, in search of hidden stars
And purple mist.

I pray
For wings of birds
That glisten in sunlight,
And flutter over black hilltops
Scattering songs.

I go
Alone, dreaming
Where spurting winds steal great
Blue-sheets of ocean tide roaring
On some strange shore.
