GROWTH by MILDRED TELFORD BARNWELL

First Line: APRIL WEEPS ... AND WEEPS ... AND WEEPS
Last Line: POOR APRIL'S TEARS, ESSENTIAL TO GOOD SOWING . . .
Subject(s): SPRING;

April weeps . . . and weeps . . . and weeps
Because fresh hidden beauty sleeps.
Gentle May dries April's tears --
Leaving behind her, in spring's dawn
A filmy handkerchief of pale green lawn --
May smiles wisely, yearly knowing
Poor April's tears, essential to good sowing . . .
