PSALM 85 by OLD TESTAMENT BIBLE

First Line: THY LAND TO FAVOR GRACIOUSLY
Last Line: HIS FOOTSTEPS CANNOT ERR.

1 Thy land to favour graciously
Thou hast not Lord been slack;
Thou hast from @3hard@1 captivity
Returned Jacob back.
2 Th' iniquity thou didst forgive
@3That wrought@1 thy people woe,
And all their sin, @3that did thee grieve@1
Hast hid @3where none shall know@1.
3 Thine anger all thou hadst removed,
And @3calmly@1 didst return
From thy fierce wrath which we had proved
Far worse than fire to burn.
4 God of our saving health and peace,
Turn us, and us restore;
Thine indignation cause to cease
Toward us, @3and chide no more@1.
5 Wilt thou be angry without end,
For ever angry thus?
Wilt thy frowning ire extend
From age to age on us?
6 Wilt thou not turn, and @3hear our voice@1,
And us again revive,
That so thy people may rejoice
By thee preserved alive.
7 Cause us to see thy goodness Lord,
To us thy mercy show;
Thy saving health to us afford
@3And life in us renew@1.
8 @3And now@1 what God the Lord will speak
I will @3go straight and@1 hear,
For to his people he speaks peace
And to his saints @3full dear@1;
To his dear saints he will speak peace,
But let them never more
Return to folly, @3but surcease
To trespass as before@1.
9 Surely to such as do him fear
Salvation is at hand,
And glory shall @3ere long appear
To@1 dwell within our land.
10 Mercy and Truth @3that long were missed@1
Now @3joyfully@1 are met;
@3Sweet@1 Peace and Righteousness have kissed
@3And hand in hand are set@1.
11 Truth from the earth @3like to a flow'r@1
Shall bud and blossom @3then@1,
And Justice from her Heavenly bow'r
Look down @3on mortal men@1.
12 The Lord will also then bestow
Whatever thing is good;
Our land shall forth in plenty throw
Her fruits @3to be our food@1.
13 Before him Righteousness shall go
@3His royal harbinger@1,
Then will he come, and not be slow;
His footsteps cannot err.
