A WINTER'S NIGHT IN IRONDEQUOIT by EMMA MAGIN BISSELL

First Line: OH, WHAT A NIGHT IN IRONDEQUOIT!
Last Line: THEY BLAZE BEFORE THEIR EYES.
Subject(s): BEAUTY; MEMORY;

Oh, what a night in Irondequoit!
I wish I knew how to explain!
The dazzling of jewels and rare diamonds
That captured the orchard and lane.

Oh what a riot of beauty
And glitter in the bitter cold!
The clear sky and moonbeams romancing,
Their secrets of love untold!

A picture for memory's art gallery
Of beauty that heaven lends;
A pretty bright scene to remember
When gloom the heart attends.

Men treasure these scenes of beauty
Long after their glamor dies;
And when in the stronghold of duty,
They blaze before their eyes.
