TO LOVE IS TO BE BORN ANEW by MARION LOUISE BLISS

First Line: THERE IS A LOVE WHICH LIKE THE WHITEST FLOWER OF SPRING
Last Line: EVER CLOSE TO EARTH.
Subject(s): LOVE;

There is a love which like the whitest flower of spring
Blooms in the dawning coolness of the early years,
Kept close and hidden by the winter leaves.
Its petals are so clear, washed by the evening rain,
And kept in shade, as though a casual daylight
Might leave some stain on such a shining loveliness.
There is a love which cannot bear the summer scrutiny
Of eyes, impelled to probe if roots be deep
And how they are. Conscious of its own worth
It keeps the forming of its perfect flower
Ever close to earth.
