A LEAVE-TAKING: 2 by WILLIAM STANLEY BRAITHWAITE

First Line: YOUR HAND IN MINE FOR A SPACE
Last Line: AND YOU -- WELL, THE RED ROSE WHITE.
Subject(s): ABSENCE; SEPARATION; ISOLATION;

YOUR hand in mine for a space,
Through a brief living sigh;
The red rose white in your face,
And a swift good-bye.
One moment! ah, could it be
Life's veriest depth and height!
The death of my soul for me --
And you -- well, the red rose white.
