IF I COULD TOUCH by WILLIAM STANLEY BRAITHWAITE

First Line: IF I COULD TOUCH YOUR HAND TO-NIGHT
Last Line: THE PASSING OF A SUMMER'S NIGHT.
Subject(s): LOVE - COMPLAINTS;

IF I could touch your hand to-night
And hear you speak one little word,
I then might understand your flight
Up the star steps, unseen, unheard.
If through the mists of gold and gray
If only some small part of you
Would speak, or touch, or rise in sight,
Death would be then between us two
The passing of a summer's night.
