APPRECIATION by LIDA WILLIAMS BROCKER

First Line: THE JOYS WHICH LIFE HAS GIVEN ME
Last Line: THAN TO ANY HEART'S DELIGHT.

The joys which life has given me
Are in my memories yet;
The shadows and the heartaches
I willingly forget.

Yet well I know that all of me
Which is not trivial -- trite --
Owes more to pain and sorrow
Than to any heart's delight.
