FAIRY RING by ABBIE FARWELL BROWN

First Line: I STEPPED WITHIN THE FAIRY RING
Last Line: AND BOTH WILL UNDERSTAND.
Subject(s): FAIRIES; ELVES;

I STEPPED within the fairy ring,
Where it was green, so green.
Then I heard the trill of a fairy bell,
And the song of the Fairy Queen.

The secret that she murmured me,
To the trill of the fairy bell,
Was sweet, so sweet you'd not believe,
If I should try to tell.

But step you too in the fairy ring,
And hold fast to my hand;
Then we may hear a lovelier thing,
And both will understand.
