TO MR. D'URFEY, UPON HIS INCOMPARABLE BALLADS CALL'D BY HIM LYRIC ODES by THOMAS (TOM) BROWN

First Line: THOU CUR, HALF FRENCH, HALF ENGLISH BREED
Last Line: AND PINDAR BEAT THY BRAINS OUT.
Subject(s): D'URFEY, THOMAS (1653-1723); HATE;

Thou Cur, half @3French@1, half @3English@1 Breed,
Thou Mungrel of @3Parnassus@1,
To think tall Lines, run up to Seed,
Should ever tamely pass on.

Thou write @3Pindaricks@1, and be damn'd!
Write Epigrams for Cutlers;
None with thy Lyricks can be shamm'd
But Chamber-Maids and Butlers.

In t' other World expect dry Blows;
No Tears can wash thy Stains out;
@3Horace@1 will pluck thee by the Nose
And @3Pindar@1 beat thy Brains out.
