MORNING SOUNDS by RUTH LEONARD BUCHE

First Line: A SPARROW'S HAPPY CHIRPING AND A DOG'S PERSISTENT BARK
Last Line: HOW BEAUTIFUL TO WAKE EACH MORN TO HOMEY SOUNDS LIKE THESE.
Subject(s): MORNING; SOUND;

A sparrow's happy chirping and a dog's persistent bark.
The clanging of a street car and the singing of a lark,
A church bell's invitation to its early morning throng
A horse's noisy footsteps and the milkman's cheery song,
The crying of a baby, a factory whistle blowing
The clattering of dishes and a rooster's distant crowing.
The sounds of children's voices, the wind amid the trees
How beautiful to wake each morn to homey sounds like these.
