FACE TO FACE by RICHARD EUGENE BURTON

First Line: LONG WEEKS I WALKED THE CITY'S CROWDED WAYS
Last Line: I MEET YOU, FACE TO FACE!
Subject(s): CITIES; FACES; GOD; URBAN LIFE;

LONG weeks I walked the city's crowded ways,
And vainly sought to find you, morn and night;
By daybreak, when the lamps were all ablaze,
And when the noon was bright.

But when I turned, and with the will to flee
Unto some dim and all-deserted place,
Have hurried here where only God may see, --
I meet you, face to face!
