THE LORDS' MASQUE: FIRST DANCE by THOMAS CAMPION

Poet Analysis

First Line: BREATHE YOU NOW, WHILE IO HYMEN
Last Line: BEAUTY AND YOUTH UNITE THEM BOTH IN ONE.

Breathe you now, while Io Hymen
To the bride we sing:
O how many joys and honours,
From this match will spring!
Ever firm the league will prove,
Where only goodness causeth love.
Some for profit seek
What their fancies most disleek:
These love for virtue's sake alone:
Beauty and youth unite them both in one.
