SONGS OF THE SEA CHILDREN: 38 by BLISS CARMAN

First Line: FIRST BY HER STARRY GAZE THAT FALLS
Last Line: I THINK SHE CAME FROM A LAND OF FIRE.
Subject(s): LOVE;

First by her starry gaze that falls
Aside, as if afraid to know
The stronger self who stirs and calls,
I think she came from a land of snow.
Then by her mood that melts to mine
Her body and her soul's desire,
Under the shifting forest shine,
I think she came from a land of fire.
