First Line: AGAINST THE SUN I SAW A BIRD
Last Line: AGAINST THE SUN.

AGAINST the sun I saw a bird,
Brown body, beating wings of dun,
And carolling a song unheard
Against the sun.

Through ocean, earth, and ether run
The forces of a hidden word
Reverberant ere earth begun,
The impulse of a flood unstirred,
Divisionless, eternal, one
With that far singing of a bird
Against the sun.
