Little path with crooked angles Running like a silver thread Out beyond the picket gateway Out beyond the holly's red. Friends and loved ones wandered o'er thee Weaving on the loom of life Memories golden -- dreams so olden, Reveries of pure delight. One by one they left the gateway Down the angles' rugged path, One by one they left me lonely Lost in memory's sailing craft. When I, too, go down the pathway, Fringed with joys and sorrows too, May sweet memories sleep eternal 'Neath the shining, morning dew. May the sunbeams hover o'er thee, Let the stars like lanterns gleam On an olden, -- golden pathway, Reveries, redeemed. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...SONNET: 22.
