FOOT NOTE TO EDEN by ANNETTE PATTON CORNELL

First Line: THIS I SHALL REMEMBER
Last Line: WHERE WE CAME OUT.
Subject(s): EDEN;

This I shall remember
Beyond all time and space:
We owned one Spring together;
And Eden was a place
With little knowing tables
And candles blue and tall,
With cobwebs on the ceiling
And shadows on the wall.

There is no gate to Eden
Nor any threshold where
The wary hearted falter
And wonder if they dare.
Though we were there I never knew
Just how it came about --
Or how we happened on the place
Where we came out.
