AUTUMN MEADOWLARK by LOTUS J. COSTIGAN

First Line: HAVE YOU HEARD THE VAGRANT LARK
Last Line: LEAVES ONE SIGHING IN THE FALL!
Subject(s): BIRDS; LARKS; SKYLARKS;

Have you heard the vagrant lark
On an opal, autumn day --
Note for note his song repeat
As in May?

Strange, then, that the self-same song
With its wild, ecstatic call
Leaves one smiling in the spring,
Leaves one sighing in the fall!
