THE LATER LOVE by MARY NARBY COTTREL

First Line: OH, THE LATER LOVE IS THE GREATER LOVE
Last Line: IN QUIET POOLS OF REST.
Subject(s): LOVE; TIME;

Oh, the later love is the greater love,
And of all life's loves the best,
Hands fondly clasped in autumn
With knowing hearts are blest.

Like a woodland lake in fall-time
It reflects the glory of day,
Lost in the truculent torrent,
The turbulent passions of May.

Oh, the later love is the greater,
And of human loves the best;
Like deep, reflecting waters,
In quiet pools of rest.
