FLOOD TIDE by ALAN CREIGHTON

First Line: ACROSS A SWIRL OF COVERED BEACH
Last Line: AND SNIFFS THE COMING SEA.
Subject(s): SEASHORE; BEACH; COAST; SHORE;

Across a swirl of covered beach
Pale dories creep from mist.
The wavelets drip like far-off speech;
The winging sea-gulls twist.
My dog sits like a silken mound
And gently rubs my knee,
Lifts ears at all the width of sound
And sniffs the coming sea.
