SYRIAN LULLABY by ALICE HATHAWAY CUNNINGHAM

First Line: SLEEP, LITTLE MOON OF MY DELIGHT
Last Line: SMALL DOVE, SLEEP WELL!

Sleep, little moon of my delight,
My damask rose.
Thine eyes--twin pools of light,
Now softly close.

Sleep warm, my arms will shelter thee,
My wee sweetmeat,
Grow tall, my straight young cypress tree,
Be strong and fleet.

Sleep sweet, thou wilt be wise and good,
My brave gazelle,
Thy cradle is of sandalwood,
Small dove, sleep well!
