MONITOR by MAYME BAKER CUNNINGHAM

First Line: IN MY KITCHEN I MIX AND STIR
Last Line: DEEP IN HIS BREAST.

In my kitchen I mix and stir,
Spied upon by a blithe philosopher,
An elm outside my window,
Meeting weather inside or out
With abandon and blustery flout;
When I frown, he slyly taps on the sill
And points to a bird nesting hidden and still
Deep in his breast.
