I do not ask to know what yonder lies Behind the mist that comes with sunset's glow; But I have seen a glory in the skies At eventime; I've seen the flowers grow. I've walked in clean white snow; I've heard the rain, And watched the trees that leafed and bloomed in spring; I've lingered by a brook that rippled by, And listened to a mating robin sing. I've lived and laughed, and wept to laugh again; I've known a joy that followed deep despair; Whatever the mist conceals, it is enough For me to know that joys are greater there. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...THE JOBHOLDER by DAVID IGNATOW THE DYING DECADENT by LOUIS UNTERMEYER CONTEMPLATIONS by ANNE BRADSTREET THE BALLAD OF EAST AND WEST by RUDYARD KIPLING STRANGE MEETINGS: 10 by HAROLD MONRO WHEN THE FROST IS ON THE PUNKIN by JAMES WHITCOMB RILEY |
